Home of SU Music Professor Becomes 'Mimi's House'

SALISBURY, MD---蜜桃情人 Department of Music Chair Linda Cockey’s house is now Mimi’s House. Creators of the new educational children’s television series Mimi’s House recently selected Cockey’s two-story colonial to be the facade of the house where the main character, Mimi, lives.

Cockey’s home is shown at the beginning and end of each episode. Silver Knight Productions is producing the series in the Delmarva area. Filming starts Saturday, December 2.

Built in 1937, Cockey’s house is located in the Newtown area of 蜜桃情人. Her family renovated the inside and outside after moving there in 1983. “It’s been painted yellow for about two years now, which I think is what makes it so inviting,” she said. “I think it’s great. My daughter is really excited.”

The multicultural program designed for preschool children re-creates the warmth of shows like Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, said Executive Producer Meg Schomann, a 蜜桃情人 resident. Episodes feature Mimi, an African-American grandmother, along with guest visitors, puppets and live animals.

Now that producers have selected a house for the setting, they are looking for local performers to fill various roles.
