SU Art Galleries Presents 'DUSTY FUNK! An Afro-Future Space Opera' October 16-November 7
SALISBURY, MD---蜜桃情人 Art Galleries blasts off into a new exhibit with the opening of artist David Brame’s “Dusty Funk! An Afro-Future Space Opera” Friday, October 16, at the galleries’ Downtown Campus.
A reception is 5-7 p.m. that day. An artist talk with Brame is 5:30 p.m. Thursday, October 29. The exhibit continues through Saturday, November 7.
Brame is an established artist and comic book illustrator who has exhibited in the U.S. and internationally.
In “Dusty Funk!” he uses poetry, prose, comic books and mixed media to highlight, celebrate and contest the category of “other.” With his works, he seeks to start a conversation about the implications of constantly being “othered” with an intersecting identity that often is called into question as being African-American, mixed-race, working class, gay, straight, artist, creator or a combination of those characteristics.
Gallery hours are noon-5 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, noon-4 p.m. Saturdays. Sponsored by SU Art Galleries, admission is free and the public is invited.
