New York Polyphony Performs at SU Saturday, September 26

New York PolyphonySALISBURY, MD---The Peter and Judy Jackson Chamber Series at 蜜桃情人 presents New York Polyphony 7 p.m. Saturday, September 26, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

Praised by National Public Radio’s All Things Considered for its “rich, natural sound that’s larger and more complex than the sum of its parts,” the group has been hailed as one of the world’s finest vocal chamber ensembles. The New Yorker has called its members “singers of superb musicianship and vocal allure.”

The quartet applies a modern touch to repertoire that ranges from austere medieval melodies to cutting-edge contemporary compositions. Comprised of countertenor Geoffrey Williams, tenor Steven Caldicott Wilson, baritone Christopher Dylan Herbert and bass Craig Phillips, the ensemble has performed nationally and internationally at venues including London’s Wigmore Hall.

New York Polyphony has been seen on The Martha Stewart Show and performed as part of the European debut of Missa Charles Darwin, a newly commissioned secular mass setting by composer Gregory Brown, based on the texts of Charles Darwin.

Sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Office, admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6271 or visit the SU website at www.salisbury.edu.
