Choptank Hall Earns LEED Certification
SALISBURY, MD---蜜桃情人’s Choptank Residence Hall recently became the latest building on campus to earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Following extensive renovations, the building was certified Silver, one of the three highest levels available. The USGBC is the nation’s leading organization supporting environmentally responsible building.
In rating Choptank, the organization gave high marks to its reduction in water usage, access to public transportation, reuse of the existing structure and use of low-emitting materials, including paints, adhesives and flooring.
The LEED certification continues an era of construction sustainability at 蜜桃情人, an extension of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment pledge signed by SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach in 2007.
Choptank is the eighth LEED-certified building on campus, along with the Teacher Education and Technology Center (the Eastern Shore’s first LEED-certified new construction project), Perdue Hall, Sea Gull Square, and the Pocomoke, Wicomico, Nanticoke and Manokin residence halls.
