Sculptor Valdez to Lead Workshop, Give Talk at SU

Nora valdez portraitSALISBURY, MD---Award-winning sculptor Nora Valdez discusses her work and experiences as an sculptor during a visiting artist lecture 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in Conway Hall Room 153.

A native of Argentina, Valdez has exhibited and installed in permanent public spaces in Europe, Asia, North America and South America since 1977. Moving to the U.S. in 1986, she now is based in Boston.

Best known as a stone carver, she uses sculpture and installations to create images that reflect on the nature of change, the lives of individuals and the forces that buffet those individuals’ souls. Her recent work has forcused on the nature of home and the immigrant experience.

Valdez is a member of the Boston Sculptors Gallery, and an advisor and professor at the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in Vermont.
