Faculty Resources

Writing Center Welcomes

This short overview of Writing Center services is meant to introduce your students to a writing consultant and provide information about UWC resources. Synchronous Zoom calls, Panopto video links, and in-person class visit options are available for this service.

First Year Seminar Workshops

The UWC offers workshops specifically designed for FYS. These 40-minute workshops orient students to the writing center as a resource for their college writing needs. Workshops focus on knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes toward the writing center and college writing. Specific content varies by workshop (details inside), but all workshops support FYS course outcomes around building student awareness of academic support services, preparing students for academic work and life, and preparing students for future academic challenges. UWC FYS workshops also support all six FYS Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).

General Workshops

The UWC offers workshops on a variety of topics. These workshops include content, discussion and activity components. Choose from our catalog of existing workshops or work with the UWC to tailor a new workshop that will meet your specific class or student group’s needs.

UWC Syllabus Statement

Below you'll find the current UWC syllabus statement. Please feel free to copy and paste it into your syllabi.

At the University Writing Center (UWC), trained peer consultants are available to work with students at any stage of the writing process. Located on the second floor of the Guerrieri Academic Commons, the UWC offers a place where writers can meet to talk about their papers and projects. In addition to the important writing instruction that occurs in the classroom and during office hours, students are also encouraged to make use of this service. For more information and to make appointments, visit the UWC’s website ( salisbury.edu/uwc ).
